American Passengers – Biographies

Aboard the “Tuscania” were 2,173 U.S. soldiers and two American civilians.

Each of their biographies includes personal and military information. Noted are:

  • Photographs
  • Military service information (draft registrations, ship roasters, serial number, veteran burial, Veterans Administration)
  • Personal data (birth/death, burial, parents, spouses, children, siblings)
  • Newspaper accounts and official documents
  • Census records (federal and state)

In each biography, images – photographs, official documents, newspaper clippings – preceed the text summarizing each man’s life.

Some men later changed their names, including surnames. Some had been born with other surnames, and there were some who used aliases. The name under which the soldier sailed on “Tuscania” has been preferred. “See references are used to direct you to the form of entry used in the list.
